Beef Lo Mein

This Chinese food favourite, Beef Lo Mein,  is one of the easiest things to make. Delicious, comforting, full of flavours and textures, and trust us when we tell you that this version is better than takeout!

Sweet Potato Muffins

Serves : 4 – 6
Prep Time : 10 MINUTES
Cooking Time : 10 – 15 MINUTES

Ingredients

  • Ribeye Steak – 300 – 400g, thinly sliced
  • Chinese Egg Noodles – 400g, or substitute with any noodles of choice
  • Grapeseed Oil – 2 tbsp, or substitute with Vegetable Oil
  • Garlic – 2 – 3 Large Cloves, crushed
  • Ginger – 1 tbsp, grated
  • Spring Onion – 1/3 Cup, to garnish
  • Toasted Sesame Oil – Few Drops, before serving
  • Soy Sauce – 1/4 Cup
  • Rice Vinegar – 2 tbsp
  • Baking Soda – 1/2 tsp
  • Cornstarch – 1/4 Cup
  • Maple Syrup – 1/2 – 1 tsp, according to preference
  • White Pepper – 1/2 tsp
  • Method

    – In a small bowl, whisk 1 tablespoon of the soy sauce, 1 tablespoon of the rice vinegar, baking soda, and 3 tablespoons of the cornstarch until combined. Add the beef and toss to coat, then set aside to marinate.

    – In a separate bowl, whisk the remaining soy sauce, remaining rice vinegar, remaining cornstarch, oyster sauce, white pepper and maple syrup until combined.

    – Cook the noodles according to packet instructions. Drain and toss with a few drops of any neutral oil to keep them from sticking, and set aside.

    – Heat the oil in a large pan over medium high heat, then add the beef. Sear the pieces for a minute or two on each side, then toss.

    – Add the garlic and ginger and stir-fry for another minute, then lower the heat.

    – Add the noodles with the marinade, along with the additional stir fry sauce and toss everything together until well combined.

    – Garnish with the spring onions and drizzle with the sesame oil. Transfer to a serving platter and serve hot or warm.
